More about
Ethical Bedding
Ethical Bedding is redefining what it means to sleep well. Their award-winning bedding, made from sustainably grown eucalyptus, combines ultimate comfort with uncompromising environmental values. Every product is crafted to be kinder to your skin, your sleep, and the planet. As the world’s first Vegan Friendly approved bedding company and a Certified B Corporation, Ethical Bedding leads with transparency, responsibility and innovation – proving that luxury and sustainability can exist hand in hand.
Driven by a belief that rest should restore both people and nature, the brand creates bedding that lasts a lifetime while leaving the lightest possible footprint. From carbon-neutral production to charitable partnerships, Ethical Bedding is designed for conscious consumers who want every night’s sleep to make a positive impact.
Meet the Maker
Ethical Bedding was founded by James Higgins – an environmental advocate with a passion for purposeful business. After years working in financial technology and experiencing burnout, James realised that the fast-paced corporate world no longer aligned with his values or wellbeing. Poor sleep had become the norm, and so had the feeling of wanting to do something that truly mattered.
This inspired a life-changing decision: to create a company that improved sleep while giving back to the planet he loved. The result was Ethical Bedding – now recognised as one of the most sustainable bedding brands in the world. James even appeared on Dragons’ Den, where his mission-driven approach and environmental commitment helped bring Ethical Bedding to a wider audience.
"When you live a purposeful life, nothing happens by accident. My mission goes far beyond bedding."
Jame Higgins
Materials
Ethical Bedding’s signature fabric – eucalyptus silk – is a breakthrough textile that outperforms cotton in comfort, sustainability, and skin-friendly properties. Made from FSC-certified eucalyptus grown in responsibly managed forests, it uses up to 95% less water than cotton, requires zero pesticides, herbicides, or toxic chemicals, and is produced in a closed-loop system where 99.5% of water and solvents are recycled.
Unlike cotton, eucalyptus fibres are naturally round, long, and silky, giving the fabric an ultra-soft, friction-free finish that is perfect for sensitive skin. It’s naturally hypoallergenic, temperature-regulating, zero-static, and creates an environment that discourages bacteria growth – meaning it stays fresher for longer and needs less frequent washing.
Eucalyptus silk also offers all the luxury of traditional silk, but is entirely animal-friendly, certified cruelty-free and fully vegan – making it a kinder, more ethical alternative to animal-derived fabrics.
People and Production
Ethical Bedding partners exclusively with suppliers who uphold their values of fairness, transparency, and environmental responsibility. Each product is carefully crafted by expert tailors with generations of experience, all paid a fair living wage. Every production partner is independently certified and regularly audited, ensuring ethical practices at every stage.
The company maintains a fully carbon-neutral supply chain, choosing efficient transportation, reducing environmental impact wherever possible, and offsetting every gram of carbon produced. Their holistic approach means they consider not just how products are made, but the lifecycle of each decision – from raw materials through to end-of-life recyclability.
Packaging
In true alignment with their mission, Ethical Bedding’s packaging is intentionally minimalistic, recyclable, and made entirely from recycled materials. Every decision – from the size of each package to the inks used – is designed to reduce waste and avoid plastic wherever possible. Products are built to last, but when they eventually reach the end of their life, almost every item is biodegradable, ensuring a gentle return to the earth.
With each purchase, the company plants a tree and donates at least 1% of annual revenue to global environmental initiatives through 1% for the Planet.
